CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird women's golf team will continue their 2019 campaign this weekend in Ft. Collins, Colorado, to compete in the Colonel Wallenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic at Ptarmigan Golf Course.
Last Time Out
The T-Birds opened their season at the 2019 Hobble Creek Fall Classic, finishing 12th as a team at the event.
Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan was the top Thunderbird in the field, shooting a 218 (75, 71, 72). That score is good enough to put her in a tie for 10th on the leaderboard. This is her ninth career top-10 finish in just her second season with the team.
Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong finished in second for the T-Birds, shooting a 228 (74, 78, 76) to finish in a tie for 46th on the leaderboard. Launa Wilson finished just two strokes behind Prasurtwong, carding a 230 (77, 80, 73) and closing out the tournament on a very strong note.
Lexi Hamel shot a 233 (77, 77, 79) over the three days, while Kyla Smith finished with a 245 (79, 83, 83).
Tournament Preview - Colonel Wallenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic
The 22nd Ptarmigan Ram Classic will be a two-day, three round event played from September 23-24. There will be a shotgun start both days sat 9 a.m. MT.
The event will be played at Ptarmigan Country Club, the home course for the Colorado State women's golf program. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1979.
