CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah soccer team fell to the Boise State Broncos 4-0 Sunday afternoon.
"It's a game of moments. In the first half, Boise capitalized on two chances. We had two chances that were arguably just as good, but didn't find the back of the net," head coach Fred Thompson said. "That's a very strong team that is expected to win their conference. I'm pleased that we went toe to toe with them for the majority of the game. With this game complete we will turn our sights to our first conference game next weekend. Conference games are always a little more intense and NAU always takes it up a notch."
The Broncos scored early and often as their first two goals were scored in the second and third minutes of play. They would take that 2-0 lead into halftime.
They scored their second two goals in the 52nd and 72nd minute to make it 4-0.
Goalkeepers Isabella Whitmore and Brianna Aldridge both split time in goal and both made four saves while allowing two goals.
The Thunderbirds will open up conference play next weekend against Northern Arizona in Flagstaff.
