Thunderbirds Downed By UTEP In El Paso

EL PASO, Texas - The Southern Utah soccer team fell to UTEP 2-0 on the road Sunday afternoon.

"Sundays are always about how hard you work. We fought to the last second and you have to be pleased with that. At times we also played some very good soccer on both sides of the ball. We created some really good chances, which I know we'll start capitalizing on in the future. We'll get home and start preparing for Wyoming," head coach Fred Thompson said.

The Thunderbirds were shut out for the fifth straight match to start the 2019 season.

Thunderbird goalkeeper Brianna Aldridge made seven saves in the game. Amberly Hastings took three shots.

The Miners scored a goal in each half to get to the final score of 2-0.

The Thunderbirds will head to Wyoming next weekend for a match with the Wyoming Cowgirls.
