CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird softball team will compete in their third non-conference tournament this weekend in Tempe, Arizona, as they'll take part in the Sun Devil Classic.
Last Time Out
When Southern Utah was last in action, they were competing in the Campbell/Cartier Classic, falling in four contests over the course of two days.
They had two close competitions, dropping a game to San Diego State by just one run, and hanging in with Cal State Fullerton and eventually ending the game three runs down.
Sun Devil Classic
The Thunderbirds will play against three Power 5 Conference opponents this weekend, facing off against No. 17 Arizona State, Maryland and Wisconsin.
The Sun Devils of ASU are currently ranked No. 17 in the NCAA, holding a 12-5 overall record this season. Three of their losses came last weekend in California, as they dropped games to Florida, Notre Dame and Cal State Fullerton.
Maryland hasn't gotten off to the strongest start, kicking off the year 5-8. They went 3-1 in their last tournament, however, knocking off Furman, Evansville and Georgia Southern.
Wisconsin has started the year with an 8-6 record, with four of those six losses coming against fellow Power 5 opponents.
