HURRICANE, Utah -- The Thunderbird men's and women's cross country team competed at the Dixie State Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon, where the men's team finished in second place and the women's team finished in fifth. The race was run at Sand Hollow Golf Course.
The No. 16 ranked men's team was led by Aiden Reed, who finished in third place with a time of 23:52.9 on the 8K course. Christian Ricketts finished seventh in the field and second for Southern Utah with a time of 23:59.2.
Isaiah Labra finished in ninth and Stefan Rasmuson finished in 10th for the T-Birds, with Nate Osterstock finishing in 12th place.
Overall, the Thunderbirds finished with a score of 36 and finished behind only Utah State University.
On the women's side, Julieta Navarrete-Lamas was the top finisher with a 21:34.9 on the 6K course to put her in 15th place overall. Haley Hanne was second for SUU with a time of 21:52.5, which put her 23rd in the field.
Southern Utah's women finished with a score of 121, which put them in fifth place ahead of Idaho State and Dixie State.
