VALENCIA, Calif. – Led by another strong showing from freshman Leo Torres, the Southern Utah University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Bill Cullum Invite Tuesday, hosted by Cal State Northridge.

As a team, the Thunderbirds finished the Tournament in 12th place after recording a 78-over-par 942. The best round of the tournament for SUU was the opening round in which it shot a 309.

Torres was the top individual finisher for Southern Utah, completing the competition in 31st place. The Las Vegas native shot a 12-over-par 228 through three rounds and dropped in two birdies on the final day of play.

Not far behind Torres was fellow freshman Rashon Williams who carded a 15-over-par 231 through 54 holes. Williams' efforts placed him in 42nd on the individual leaderboard.

Cal State Northridge claimed the team victory Tuesday after scoring a 12-over-par 876. CSUN was followed by Utah Valley and Cal State Fullerton in the top three. Brian Arnold of UC Santa Barbara claimed the individual championship on a three-under-par 213.

Ryker Smith and Napat (Pun) Vorrasanpisut were the next finishers for SUU with Smith claiming 61st and Vorrasanpisut taking 64th. Smith had his best round of the tournament Tuesday with a 74. Jaden Milne also pitched in for SUU with a 27-over-par 243 which placed him in 69th.

Atthasit (Anfield) Srichun and Seth Winterton also competed for the T-Birds, recording 73rd and 78th place finishes, respectively.

The Thunderbirds will be back in action Monday, October 18, when they head to New Mexico for the Pepsi Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, hosted by New Mexico State University.
