LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Atthasit (Anfield) Srichun, Ryker Smith and Leo Torres all finished in the top-50 as the Southern Utah University men's golf team wrapped up play at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at New Mexico State Golf Course.
Srichun was the top finisher for the Thunderbirds at 30th place on an 11-over-par 224. While competing as an individual, Srichun shot 10 birdies through 54 holes. Smith was just two strokes behind on a 13-over-par 226, which placed him in 38th for the tournament. He was followed by Torres who finished 48th after recording a 17-over-par 230.
As a team, the T-Birds finished 10th overall with a score of 76-over-par 928. SUU carded its best round of the tournament Tuesday with a 306 after identical 311s in rounds one and two. The Thunderbirds finished one spot in front of Prairie View A&M in the team standings.
Jaden Milne finished just four strokes outside the top-50 for SUU after shooting a 22-over-par 235. His efforts landed him in 56th in the individual standings for the tournament. Rashon Williams was not far behind in 64th place.
New Mexico State claimed victory in the team standings by carding a seven-over-par 859. The Aggies were followed by Northern Colorado and UTRGB in the top three. Oklahoma State's Tiger Christensen claimed the individual victory Tuesday after recording a score of 10-under-par 203.
Napat (Pun) Vorrasanpisut was the final T-Bird to compete in the tournament and he finished 71st with a score of 34-over-par 247.
Tuesday's action closes out the fall portion of the schedule for SUU, and the Thunderbirds will be in action next in February when they host the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational in St. George.
