OGDEN, Utah -- For the second-consecutive day, the Thunderbird women's volleyball team fell in three sets to in-state rival Weber State University, giving the Wildcats the regular season sweep.
Southern Utah is now 2-5 on the season and 2-4 in Big Sky Conference play.
WSU claimed the first two sets of the match with a score of 25-16, and improved on their result in the third and eventual final set by topping the Thunderbirds 25-10.
Andreanna McKee led the Thunderbirds in kills with nine on the evening. Elisa Lago finished with six and Stacey Hone had five. Corrin Peterson had all 25 of SUU's assists. Both Raegen Ashby and Peterson finished with two block assists.
Dani Nay led the charge for WSU, finishing the match with 17 kills and a .484 hitting percentage.
The Wildcats finished the match with 17 aces compared to Southern Utah's four, giving them a strong advantage. The teams were evenly matched in terms of blocks with four apiece.
Next up for Southern Utah will be a home series against the Portland State Vikings. They will compete against PSU next Sunday and Monday inside the America First Event Center.
