CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird women's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over the Portland State Vikings inside the America First Event Center on Sunday evening, taking the first of back-to-back matches against PSU. 

Southern Utah now sits at 3-5 on the season, and 3-4 in Big Sky Conference play for the year. 

The Thunderbirds started the match in convincing fashion, taking the opening set 25-19. They continued to overpower the Vikings into the second set, and ultimately won that frame 25-17. 

After a strong comeback victory in the third set by the Vikings, the Thunderbirds put their final stamp on the match by winning the fourth and final set 25-18. SUU had a .325 hitting percentage in the final set of the evening. 

Andreanna McKee finished the night with the most kills for Southern Utah, tallying 14 on 39 attempts. Stacey Hone wasn't too far behind, wrapping up the match with 13 kills. Reagan Ashby was the third T-Bird in double figures with 11. 

Corrin Peterson finished the match with 43 assists for the Thunderbirds. 

Sarah Gasper led the T-Birds with 17 digs on the evening. 

As a team, the Thunderbirds finished with eight aces in the match. They also had 47 assists on 69 total points scored. 

Southern Utah will continue their 2021 Spring Season tomorrow evening, as they'll square off against the Portland State Vikings for the second-consecutive match. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside the America First Event Center.
