CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah softball team will play a three-game series with Utah Valley University this weekend starting with one game on Friday February 26 followed by a doubleheader on Saturday February 27. The games will be played at Archie H. Gubler Park in Santa Clara.
Last Time Out
The Thunderbirds competed in the Hillenbrand Invitational last weekend where they picked up a win over New Mexico.
Josey White hit .500 on the weekend with eight hits in 16 plate at-bats. She hit one home run, two doubles, and had three RBI. Dayna Hokanson had a good weekend at the plate as well, hitting .333 with six hits in 18 at-bats. She also scored four runs.
Payton Goodrich pitched 9.1 innings in the circle for the T-Birds, striking out nine batters and earning the win against New Mexico. Against the Lobos, she threw six innings of no-hit ball, gave up one run and struck out eight.
Scouting Report: Utah Valley Wolverines (3-2)
The Wolverines opened their 2021 season last weekend at the Dixie State Classic where they picked up wins over Montana, Utah State, and Nevada.
Junior Linnah Rebolledo hit .538 over the weekend with seven hits and three RBI.
Game Day Information
Friday's game is set to start at 3:00 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader is set to start at 12:00 p.m. with the second game starting about 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
