HERRIMAN, Utah -- The Thunderbird soccer team dropped a non-conference contest to the Westminster Griffins on Sunday afternoon at the Zions Bank Real Academy, 2-1.
Southern Utah's day was highlighted by a Kate Schirmer goal, which was assisted on by Monica Brown. This is Schirmer's second goal of the season, after she put one in the back of the net against Dixie State in SUU's draw to open the season.
The Griffins held a 1-0 lead at the half of this contest, but Schrimer was able to tie the match at 1-1.
By the end of the contest, Westminster was able to add a second goal, finishing the match with a 2-1 advantage and the victory.
Southern Utah finished the match with 17 shot attempts, which is more than any match during the 2019 campaign and the most since October 15, 2017, when Southern Utah had 23 shot attempts against North Dakota.
Next up for the Thunderbirds will be Big Sky Conference play, as they'll travel to Greeley, Colorado to face off against the Northern Colorado Bears on March 12.
