FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Southern Utah volleyball team wrapped up a two-game series with Northern Arizona Monday night with a 0-3 (15-25, 19-25, 18-25) loss to the Lumberjacks.
The Thunderbirds are now 4-7 on the season and 4-6 in Big Sky play.
Stacey Hone led the T-Birds offensively with 11 kills and Andreanna McKee was right behind her with 10. Hone hit .304 on the night and had one solo block while assisting on two others. Corrin Peterson had 30 assists and eight digs in the loss.
After dropping the first set 15-25, the Thunderbirds put up their best fight in the second set where they were down 6-13 at one point. After a kill from McKee, they put down three blocks in a row and topped it off with a kill from Mckenzie Dowell to close the gap at 11-13. That would be as close as they would get however as the Lumberjacks outscored the T-Birds 12-8 the rest of the way to claim the set.
Northern Arizona used a 7-0 scoring run in the third set to set the pace and eventually close out the match 3-0.
The Thunderbirds will host Idaho State next weekend with matches on Saturday March 6 and Sunday March 7.
