Southern Utah Will Host Final Contest of the Season In a Two-Match Series Against Idaho State

CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Southern Utah's women's soccer will host Idaho State in a two-match series Friday April 9 and Sunday April 11 to close out the 2020-21 season.

Last Time Out

The Thunderbirds had a dominating victory over the Firebirds. With a historic performance of eight goals, the T-Birds tied a school record set back in the 2010 season. Three players from this Thunderbird squad scored their first goals of the season, Alison Keller, Kimberley Martinez and Mekaylla White.

For the first time this season the T-Birds had three players with multiple goals. Kate Schirmer got the T-Birds on the scoreboard first as she would connect with the back of the net twice in the first half. Schirmer had a perfect shot percentage at the end of the match, and she leads the T-Birds in goals this season (6).

The second half would continue to be a one way traffic match for the Thunderbirds as they out shot the Firebirds 11-3. The T-Birds scored six more times and had three players with multiple goals for the first time this season.

By the end of the match the Thunderbirds accomplished a 8-0 win, giving them their third victory of the season.

Scouting Report: Idaho State (0-6-1, 0-5-1 BSC)

The Bengals are coming off a shutout loss to Weber State. The Bengals have three goals this season and have allowed their opponents 12 goals during the season. Idaho State is also outshot by their opponents 34-109.

Playing the Thunderbirds regularly the Bengals hold the better series record over the past 10 years with a record 6-4. However, Idaho State has not secured a victory on the Thunderbirds home field in eight years. The last time the Bengals won in Cedar City was during the 2013 season.
