ERIE, Colo. -- Junior Tyler Jones led the Southern Utah University men's golf team to a 15th place finish at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational at Colorado National Golf Club Tuesday afternoon.
Jones finished tied for 54th in the individual standings, jumping 10 places from day one after shooting an even 216. The Utah native carded rounds of 69, 77, and 70, shooting eight birdies through all three rounds.
Atthasit (Anfield) Srichun followed just two strokes behind Jones, recording a two-over-par 218. This landed Sriuchun in 60th on the individual leaderboard.
The Thunderbirds shot a 17-over-par 881 as a team, leading to a 16th place finish overall.
Boise State took home the team victory, shooting a 46-under-par 818. The Broncos were followed by San Francisco and Utah as the top three finishers for the invitational. San Diego's Harrison Kingsley claimed the individual championship on a 15-under-par 201.
The Thunderbirds were also bolstered by the efforts of Leo Torres (T69th), Ryker Smith (T87th) and Jaxon Long (92nd).
SUU will play again in early October at the Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by California State Northridge. The tournament will span Monday, October 11, to Tuesday October 12, at The Oaks Club at Valencia.
