VALENCIA, Calif. - The Southern Utah University men's golf team took tenth place overall at the 2022 Bill Cullum Invitational, shooting a combined 927 over 54 holes on Monday and Tuesday.
The Thunderbirds improved their score each round, shooting a combined 313 in the first round, followed by a score of 310 for the second round, and closing out the tournament by shooting a 304 on the final day of play.
Mitchell Abbott finished first overall in the SUU lineup and 52nd on the individual leaderboard, turning in scores of 79 (+7), 73 (+1), and 77 (+5) to lead the way for Southern Utah.
Atthasit (Anfield) Srichun finished second for the Thunderbirds. He had his best round of the season to begin the tournament, shooting an impressive 70 (-2) through the first 18 holes of play. Srichun took a step back and shot an 83 (+11) in the second round, and then went on to close out the tournament by carding a 78 (+6) in the third and final round. Srichun finished 55th overall for the event.
Jaxon Long came in right behind Srichun, finishing in a tie for 56th. Long improved his scores each round throughout the tournament, carding an 82 (+10) for the first round, and then improving by six strokes to record a 76 (+4) for the second round, before putting together a score of 75 (+3) in the final round.
Rashon Williams also continued to improve throughout the event, turning in his best round of the tournament on the final day, shooting a solid 75 (+3) to close out the event. Williams carded an 82 (+10) for the first round and a score of 81 (+9) for the second round. He finished in 64th place on the individual leaderboard.
Leo Torres rounded out the Southern Utah lineup, recording scores of 84 (+12), 80 (+8), and 77 (+5) throughout the event to finish in 65th.
The Thunderbirds had three players participate as individual competitors, with Napat (Pun) Vorrasanpisut leading the way after carding scores of 78 (+6), 74 (+2), and 84 (+10), to finish in a tie for 61st place on the leaderboard.
Seth Winterton recorded scores of 85 (+13), 78 (+6), and 80 (+8), to finish 66th overall and Colton Cherry finished right behind him in 67th place after carding scores of 78 (+6), 83 (+11), and 90 (+18) throughout the event.
CSU - Northridge took first in the team standings and earned the individual title as Felix Schrott shot a combined 210 to claim the first-place victory.

The Thunderbirds will take the next two weeks off, before heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete at the Oral Roberts Invitational. The 54-hole event is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 24 and will conclude the following day. The event will be held at The Oaks Country Club in Tulsa.
