Southern Utah Closes Most Successful Women’s Soccer Season in Program History

SEATTLE, Washington. - The Southern Utah women's soccer team concluded the most impressive season in Thunderbird history with a 9-6-2 overall record and a 4-5-2 Western Athletic Conference mark today.  SUU ended the campaign with a 4-1 loss to Seattle on the road. 

SUU trailed 2-0 after the first half of the contest with Seattle outshooting the 'Birds, 17-6.  SUU managed to put three of those shots on goal, but were unable to sneak one through. Junior forward Ashley Rivera paced the T-Birds with a pair of shots in just 15 minutes of play in the first frame. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Megan Short, meanwhile notched two saves in the initial half of play. 

Sophomore midfielder Emily Reddish closed out the season on a high note by lacing a shot to from well outside the box past the Redhawks at the 84:36 mark of the contest. That was Reddish's first point as a Thunderbird heading into her junior season. 

The goal came in a second half that featured the T-Birds putting 10 more shots the way of the Redhawks, while Seattle pushed the final score to 4-1 with two more goals in the stanza.
