CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah University men's golf team will compete in the Jackrabbit Invitational Friday and Saturday, hosted by South Dakota State University at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
The Jackrabbit Invitational is a two-day, three-round tournament hosted by South Dakota State at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. Teams will play 36 holes Friday and the final 18 Saturday with a 7 a.m. shotgun start both days. The course is a par 72 with a yardage of 7,402. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
THE FIELD
In addition to Southern Utah and host South Dakota State, teams competing include North Dakota, South Dakota, Eastern Kentucky, Texas State, St. Thomas, Loyola Chicago, Incarnate Word, Niagara, Northern Iowa, Colorado Christian, UT Chattanooga and UNLV.
LAST TIME OUT
Southern Utah University men's golfer Tyler Jones led the way as the Thunderbirds' top finisher at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
Jones carded a four-over-par 220 to earn a top-50 finish in 41st place. The junior's best round of the tournament came Thursday when he recorded a 72. Jones followed up that round with a 73 on the final day of competition.
As a team, Southern Utah ended up in 20th overall on a 49-over-par 913. The Thunderbirds finished the final day of play strong by shooting a 300 for their best round of the tournament.
Rashon Williams finished second in the lineup for Southern Utah and 89th overall. His best round of the day came Friday on a 74, which contributed to his overall score of 13-over-par 229. Leo Torres finished four strokes behind with a 17-over-par 233 which placed him in a tie for 103rd.
Jaxon Long and Seth Winterton completed SUU's lineup within one stroke of each other with scores of 237 and 238. Jaden Milne competed as an individual and shot a 37-over-par 253.
