MARICOPA, Ariz. – After completing day one of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in fifth place, Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan climbed one spot Tuesday afternoon to lead Southern Utah by finishing fourth overall on the individual leaderboard.

Yongyuan carded a 73 on Tuesday which was good enough to move up one spot in the standings. Overall, the Thailand native shot a one-over-par 217 for the tournament.

Southern Utah finished 14th in the team standings behind a 54-over-par 918. After rounds of 311 and 300 Monday, the Thunderbirds carded a 307 in the third and final round of the Cowgirl Classic.

Tanyatorn (Excel) Thalangkarn shot an 81 Tuesday afternoon to finish the tournament in 56th place with a 14-over-par 230. Anais Guibal finished five strokes back of Thalangkarn to land in 79th place overall.

Santa Clara maintained its spot at the top of the team leaderboard to earn the team victory with a 16-over-par 880. Long Beach State and Cal Baptist rounded out the top three. Santa Clara's Claire Choi took home the individual championship by shooting three under par, and Franca Polla of Boise State and Victoria Gailey from Nevada claimed second and third, respectively.

Tori Thomas showed big improvement in the third round for SUU by shooting a 75 after rounds of 81 and 80 to open the competition. Her progress on day two helped her to climb nine spots on the leaderboard and finish in 85th place. Ellie Hair rounded out the Thunderbird lineup by finishing 112th overall.

The T-Birds will now prepare for their final regular season tournament of the season when they travel to the Bobcat Desert Classic on Monday, April 11.
