CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah University men's basketball team and head coach Todd Simon have announced the signing of Felix Lemetti, a transfer from the University of Omaha.
"Felix is an experienced guard with a high skill level," said Simon. "He competes on both ends of the floor. His work ethic and desire to win will be a great asset for the program."
Lemetti is the third transfer player in the past three weeks to join the Southern Utah men's basketball program. Lemetti posted averages of 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game last season for the Mavericks. A sharpshooter, he buried 38 percent of his three-point attempts, knocking down 2.2 shots from behind the arc on 6.1 attempts per contest.
Prior to his time at Omaha, Lemetti was an All-Region 18 Honorable Mention Performer at Salt Lake Community College. He averaged 9.9 points and 3.0 assists per game, while shooting a blazing 45 percent from long range. He helped his team to a 20-5 overall record and berth in the NJCAA National Tournament.
Before SLCC, Lemetti began his career at Fairfield University in Connecticut. He averaged 5.1 points per game while shooting 32 percent from three in his lone season with the Stags.
A native of Sweden, Lemetti competed for Fryshuset Basket Club, the second-highest league in Sweden, throughout his high school career. He averaged 18.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game during his time with the team.
Lemetti also spent time with the Swedish National Team, competing from the U15 level up to U20. He averaged 11.0 points per game throughout his time with the national team, where he earned countless honors, including MVP of the Nordic Championship, and was selected as part of the 2017-18 All-EuroBasket First-Team.
With the departures of seniors John Knight III and Dre Marin, Coach Simon has loaded up on guards during the offseason, as all three transfer additions will look to make an immediate impact in the backcourt.
Southern Utah will continue to prepare to build upon one of the best seasons in school history, in which they won 23 games and made it to the semifinals of The Basketball Classic.
