FARMINGTON, Utah - Former Southern Utah University basketball player Darri Dotson has been named one of two nominees from the Big Sky Conference for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Dotson and former Weber State student-athlete Pei-Hsuan (Patty) Kuo were chosen as the two representatives from the conference for their outstanding work both on and off the court throughout their college careers.
Dotson was a force for the Southern Utah women's basketball team this past season, leading the squad in points (11.0) and rebounds (8.2), while earning Third Team All-Big Sky honors for her stellar play. Over the course of her career, Dotson appeared in 137 total contests for the Thunderbirds, finishing with career averages of 10.0 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per contest.
Dotson also had an exceptional career in the classroom, earning Big Sky All-Academic honors all five seasons during her time at SUU.
Dotson joins a list of over 150 nominees who were selected by conference offices around the country to be considered for the Top 30 honors, which will be announced later this fall.
