CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah University women's golf team will begin the 2022-23 season Monday morning, when they will travel north to Springville, Utah to compete at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic, hosted by Utah Valley.
Tournament Preview
The Hobble Creek Fall Classic is a two-day, 54-hole tournament, where competition begins with a shotgun start each day. Every golfer will play 36 holes on Monday, teeing off at 7:45 a.m. MT. The tournament will conclude with a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday, beginning at 7:45 a.m. MT.
The Field
In addition to Southern Utah and host school Utah Valley, the 17-team field includes Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Idaho, Idaho State, Lamar, Portland State, Montana, North Dakota State, Tarleton, UC Davis, UC Riverside, Utah Tech, Weber State, and Wyoming.
The Course
The Hobble Creek Golf Course is a par 71 with a total yardage of 6,032. A relatively short course with limited elevation changes, Hobble Creek is known for its narrow fairways, making it a challenging course that requires great precision and accuracy.
Projected Lineup
Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan
Yongyuan begins the final chapter of her storied career on Monday, as she hopes to have her best season yet competing for the Thunderbirds. She shot a combined 219 (+4) at the 2021 Hobble Creek Fall Classic, finishing in a tie for sixth place.
Tanyatorn (Excel) Thalangkarn
Thalangkarn made great strides from her freshman to sophomore season, and she will look to make further improvements this year. She shot a combined 238 (+25) at the 2021 Hobble Creek Fall Classic, tying for 72nd place.
Tsara Ralamboarison
Ralamboarison enters the 2022-23 season with high expectations, as the freshman has had an exceptional amateur career leading up to her debut tournament with Southern Utah. Ralamboarison has the opportunity to make a strong impact on the SUU lineup in her first season with the team.
Anais Guibal
Guibal returns for her sophomore season after an impressive freshman year. Guibal has the potential for a breakout sophomore season, and she will look to have a strong start to the year at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic. At the last year's tournament, Guibal shot a combined 232 (+19) to finish in a tie for 49th.
Ellie Hair
The sophomore from Richfield, Utah will seek to improve upon a solid freshman season and turn in a solid outing in the first tournament of the year. Hair shot a combined 243 in the individual competition at the 2021 Hobble Creek Fall Classic, securing a tie for 86th place.
Individual Competitors:
Cornelia Karlsson
Karlsson will compete in the individual portion of the tournament. She shot a combined 248 at the 2021 Hobble Creek Fall Classic, claiming a tie at 92nd place on the leaderboard.
Grace Singpraseuth
Singpraseuth will make her debut for the Thunderbirds, and the freshman will have the opportunity to impress in the first tournament of the season. She has had a strong amateur career thus far and hopes to make a solid first impression at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic.

Limited Live-scoring will be available for the team competition throughout the tournament at Golfstat.com, and a recap of each round will be posted to SUUTBirds.com.
