CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah University women's volleyball team competed against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the America First Event Center, falling in four sets. The Thunderbirds move to 5-15 on the season and 1-9 in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Ladyjacks improve to 21-3 overall and 10-0 in WAC play.

Stephen F. Austin took a 15-7 lead to start the match. Despite four kills in the period from Andrea Spasojevic, the Ladyjacks took set one 25-15.
Southern Utah bounced back in set two, taking an early 11-6 advantage. A balanced scoring effort helped SUU extend its lead to seven (18-11). Stephen F. Austin battled back to trim Southern Utah's lead to only one, 24-23. Teniyah Leuluai connected with Hana Makonova for the deciding kill to help take the set 25-23 for SUU.
Spasojevic and Natasha Obradovic combined for six kills in the third set, but it wasn't enough as the Ladyjacks would seize the set 25-12.
The Ladyjacks stayed hot, taking a 12-5 lead in set four. Kennedy Charlton added two kills to spark a 4-0 SUU run to get within three (12-9). However, the Ladyjacks were able to pull away as they would go on to win the set 25-16 and the match 3-1.
UP NEXT
Southern Utah will hit the road next week as they travel to California Baptist on Thursday, Oct. 26. The match is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. MT.
