RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Southern Utah University women's volleyball team competed against California Baptist on Thursday, Oct. 26, falling in three sets. The Thunderbirds move to 5-16 on the season and 1-10 in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Lancers improve to 13-9 overall and 6-5 in WAC play.

"This week we worked on executing a more efficient offense and it translated to the match which is exciting to see. We also worked on defending a fast-tempo offense and we need to do a better job slowing them down."

The Lancers took a 7-2 lead to begin the match. Southern Utah responded, scoring nine of the next 12 points to go up 11-10. The two squads matched each other point for point, with the score being tied 20-20 near the end of the set. Despite six kills from Andrea Spasojevic in the period, California Baptist would go on to take the set 25-22.
CBU stayed hot in set two, jumping out to a 15-9 advantage. Natasha Obradovic poured in six kills in the set to bring the Thunderbirds within five (22-17), but it wasn't enough as the Lancers claimed the set 25-18.
A balanced attack from Southern Utah helped the Thunderbirds take an 8-5 lead to start the third set. However, California Baptist was able to come back to win the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.
UP NEXT
The Thunderbirds will stay on the road as they head to Grand Canyon to take on the Antelopes on Saturday, Oct. 28. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. MT.
