PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Southern Utah University women's volleyball team competed against Grand Canyon on Saturday, Oct. 28, falling in three sets. The Thunderbirds move to 5-17 on the season and 1-11 in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Antelopes improve to 18-5 overall and 11-1 in WAC play.

"Really proud of the majority of our match. Losing the first two sets by a total of seven points to the current second best team in conference was a positive. We served well and blocked much better also."

GCU jumped out to a 17-11 advantage in set one. Southern Utah battled back to get within two points (22-20), but it wasn't enough as the Antelopes would take the set 25-20.
The second set was a tight contest, as the two squads found themselves tied at 18-18. Despite six kills in the period from Andrea Spasojevic, Grand Canyon would narrowly take set two 25-23.
The Antelopes took a 15-7 lead in the third set and never looked back, winning the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
UP NEXT
The Thunderbirds will take the court on Saturday, Nov. 4 as they host UTRGV at the America First Event Center. The match is slated to begin at 6 p.m. MT.
