CEDAR CITY, Utah - Andrea Spasojevic and Hana Makonova each set season-highs in kills to propel the Southern Utah University women's volleyball team to a five-set victory against Utah Tech on Monday, Nov. 6 at the America First Event Center. The Thunderbirds improve to 6-18 overall and 2-12 in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Trailblazers fall to 8-16 on the season and 4-10 in WAC play.

Andrea Spasojevic led the Thunderbirds with five kills in the first period, but it wasn't enough as the Trailblazers narrowly took the set 26-24.
Three early kills from Hana Makonova sparked a 10-4 start for SUU in set two. Utah Tech rallied back to take a 21-20 advantage late in the set. Southern Utah responded, using a 5-1 run to claim set two 25-22.
Despite nine combined kills from Natasha Obradovic and Spasojevic, the Trailblazers were able to take the third set 25-19.
The fourth set was a tight affair. Utah Tech held a 19-18 advantage late in the period. However, the Thunderbirds were able to mount a 5-0 run to jump in front 23-19. Obradovic delivered the clinching kill for SUU, as the T-Birds seized set four 25-22.
Southern Utah came out hot in set five, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. Charlotte Wilson was electric in the set, recording five kills to power the Thunderbirds offense. SUU would emerge victorious, winning the set 15-9 and the match 3-2.
UP NEXT
Southern Utah will travel to Orem to take on Utah Valley on Thursday, Nov. 9. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. MT.
