CEDAR CITY, Utah - Coach Don Don Williams and the Thunderbird softball program and excited to announce the addition of Laurie Cooke a junior transfer from Newman University. Cooke will look to make a splash as she joins the team for the 2024 season.

Cooke had an outstanding career at Newman University, leaving a lasting impact on the softball program. Over the course of her time at the university, Cooke showcased her exceptional skills at the plate, consistently maintaining a high batting average. With a career average of .309, she proved to be a formidable force in the batter's box. Her ability to make solid contact and drive the ball resulted in a remarkable total of 103 hits throughout her career. Cooke's power was evident in her 17 doubles and five triples, displaying her ability to drive the ball into the gaps and stretch hits into extra bases. Additionally, she demonstrated her versatility as a player, stealing an impressive 40 bases, showcasing her speed and agility on the base paths. Cooke's contributions to the team's offense were invaluable, making her a key player.
Not only was Laurie Cooke an offensive powerhouse, but she also displayed a strong defensive presence. Starting in all 101 games of her career, Cooke was a reliable and consistent player in the field. Her solid defensive skills and awareness made her an asset to the team, contributing to their overall success.
