CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's basketball team and Head Coach Tracy Mason have announced a challenging non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season.
HEAD COACH TRACY MASON SAYS
"I'm really excited about the schedule that has been put together for our 23-24 season. We are going to see six teams we played last season and we've added two tough opponents with the WAC and C-USA alliance. We'll be hosting Utah here in Cedar City on Dec. 16. It's always special to have a Sweet 16 team on your home court. Our team has been working hard and staying focused on just getting better everyday. We have a group that just loves to be in the gym and it's been so much fun to see them improving daily."
SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN
The Thunderbirds will play nine non-conference matches in total, with five home games and four contests taking place on the road.
SUU will begin its non-conference schedule at the America First Event Center with a three game homestand, starting off with Eastern Washington on Nov. 8 followed by matches against Western Kentucky on Nov. 10 and Alaska Fairbanks on Nov. 15.
The 'Birds then travel to California for a matchup against UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 19.
16 days after their contest with the Gauchos, the Thunderbirds hit the road for back-to-back road games. Southern Utah takes on Texas A&M - Commerce on Dec. 5. before heading to the celebrated arena "The Pit" to face New Mexico on Dec. 7
The Thunderbirds then return to the America First Event Center for a showdown against Pac-12 opponent Utah on Dec. 16. Following this, the 'Birds host Northern Arizona on Dec. 21.
Southern Utah wraps up its rigorous non-conference schedule on Dec. 30 with a road game against UTEP.
With a non-conference slate filled with challenging opponents, Southern Utah will be battle tested before heading into its second season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
