CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah University track & field program is proud to announce that Jaedyn Carpenter has been named the Western Athletic Conference's Men's Track Athlete of the Week following a 45.94 second 400m dash at the UNLV Invite.

Head Coach Eric Houle Said:

"Jaedyn's performance this weekend was one of the best in the country. He will be very competitive at the national level."

This recognition comes after Carpenter took the top spot in the 400m at the UNLV Rebel Elite Invite with a time of 45.94 seconds. This time also gives Carpenter the brand new school record in the event, breaking the former record that he also held. 

Carpenter has had a lot of success for the Thunderbirds this season, including a first-place finish in the 200m at the Husky Classic, and a second-place finish in the 400m at the NAU Lumberjack Team Challenge.

In the T-Birds championship win at the WAC Indoor Championships, Carpenter secured a second-place finish in the 400m and third place in the 200m.

Carpenter and the rest of the team will look to continue their fantastic season this weekend at the Bryan Clay Invite in Azusa, California. The meet will run from Apr. 11-13.
