CEDAR CITY, Utah - Coming off of a successful weekend in Southern California, the Southern Utah University track & field program is back at home this Saturday, Apr. 20 to host the SUU Coliseum Championships.

"It is one of the first meets in over 12 years where the SUU athletes can compete at home. Our athletes are also giving back to the community by hosting a high school track meet that brings in 1000 high school athletes. Our hope is that the weather and being at home will provide some great competition."
Meet Info
The meet will take place at Eccles Coliseum, the home of Southern Utah Track & Field.
Along with the Thunderbirds, the field of play will feature in-state programs Utah Tech and Utah Valley.
Competition will begin following the high school meet at 3:00 p.m. MT with the men's 2000m steeplechase, men's pole vault, and men's discus and will wrap up with the men's and women's 4x400m relay.
Last Time Out
Last weekend, the Thunderbirds showed out at the Bryan Clay Invite in Azusa, California.
In the men's steeplechase, Hayden Harward impressed with an 18th-place finish and a time of 8:39.51. This time breaks the SUU record in the event set previously by Harward and places him under the Olympic trials qualifying time of 8:40.Â
Lanse Larsen also set a new PR in the steeplechase, pulling in an 8:59.85 to put him fifth all-time in school history.
Travis Feeny secured a fourth-place finish in the 5000m with a PR time of 13:45.18. This time also puts him in fourth all-time for the 'Birds. In the 10000m, Coleman Cragun clocked in a 29:29.33 to move into tenth place all-time in school history. Dylan Gibson finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 46.15 seconds, improving his second all-time mark.
Stephen Campbell, Daniel Krynzel, and Victor Pampuch each took high marks in the shot put, with Campbell taking second with a throw of 53'10.25", Krynzel in sixth with a 51'9", and Pampuch placing ninth with a 50'0.75".Â
With a distance of 206'10", Bronis MacDougall picked up another impressive finish in the javelin throw, claiming third in the event. Kaden Banks finished strong in the discus, taking third place with a throw of 167'0".
With a distance of 194'8", Rebecca Hazelet took the top spot in the women's hammer throw. Jessica Jericoff also secured a top ten spot in the event with a ninth-place finish and a throw of 169'10", taking ninth all-time for the Thunderbirds.
Morgan Blackburn took fifth in the discus with a throw of 162'9", this mark also gives Blackburn the third all-time spot in the record books.
In the shot put, Blackburn also brought home a top 25 finish with a throw of 39'9.75". With a height of 11'2.50", Ariana Baker secured 11th place in the pole vault.
