CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Thunderbirds return home to Kathryn Berg Field for their final home series of the season this Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28. Southern Utah will take on in-state foe Utah Valley, looking to put themselves in a position to make the WAC tournament. The T-Birds will honor the senior softball players before Sunday's matchup with the Wolverines.
The Thunderbirds enter this weekend's series hot off a series finale win at Grand Canyon. SUU is currently sitting at 18-23 overall with a 7-13 record in conference play. The Wolverines are 10-9 against WAC opponents and have an overall record of 18-25. UVU is coming off a big 9-1 win at Weber State.

Senior Day
The Thunderbirds will recognize the seniors from this year's team during this weekend's series against UVU. The Seniors are Shelby Basso, Capri Franzen, Bella Garcia, Miranda Lopez, and Grace Owen. Each of these incredible student-athletes has put their heart and soul into Southern Utah Softball during their time here. Please join us in recognizing them following their final home game at Kathryn Berg Field on Sunday afternoon.
Southern Utah
Several standout players have led the Thunderbirds at the plate this season. Karmyna Becerra's batting average of .348 stands out in the stat sheet. The junior third baseman has an impressive nine doubles and nine home runs on the season, tallying the second-most RBIs on the team with 23. Recently freshman Kassidy Munoz has bolstered the T-Birds lineup with a .333 batting average and ten RBIs. Ariyana Miranda and Emily Gonzalez are also racking up the hits for Southern Utah, batting .316 and .315, respectively. Miranda has led the squad in home runs all season with ten and has the most RBIs with 28.
In the circle, the Thunderbirds have been able to rely on three key starters to keep them in the game. Freshman Emily Delgado leads the team in ERA with 4.62, but Sophomore Delaney Baker is right behind her with an ERA of 4.63. Junior Keimon Winston has been solid for the T-Birds with 34 strikeouts over 55.1 innings pitched. Delgado leads the team in strikeouts with 81 in 113.2 innings of work.
Utah Valley
The dynamic duo of Megan Gibbs and Rachael Brown has led Utah Valley. Gibbs currently has a batting average of .347 with five doubles, 12 home runs, and an incredible 40 RBIs on the season. Brown has posted a batting average of .341 and has blasted six home runs this season. Halle Morris adds a .333 and team-leading nine doubles to the UVU attack. An often overlooked aspect is the running game, where Ry Binne has racked up an extraordinary eight stolen bases on eight attempts.
On the defensive end, Utah Valley has relied on Avery Sapp and Halle Morris to hold down the circle. Morris leads the team in ERA at 4.26 with 64 strikeouts on the season. Opponents are batting just .294 against Morris in 113.1 innings pitched. Sapp's ERA sits slightly lower at 6.09, but she has also struck out 52 batters in 81.2 innings pitched. Adding to the UVU pitching arsenal, Payge Armendariz has posted a 4.49 ERA over 62.1 innings.
