FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Southern Utah University track & field program wrapped up day one of the NCAA DI Western Regionals on Wednesday, May 22. Dylan Gibson and Jaedyn Carpenter represented the 'Birds in the 400m dash and Nelson Douglas competed in the 200m dash.
Head Coach Eric Houle Said:
"It's been an incredible experience to have SUU athletes make this first round of the NCAA National Championship. From individual conference championships to team championships, they've represented the university as some of the best athletes in the country."
Jaedyn Carpenter and Dylan Gibson both posted strong performances in the 400m. With a time of 46.30 seconds, Carpenter finished fourth in his group and 27th overall but fell less than a tenth of a second short of qualifying for Nationals. Gibson took eighth in his group and 43rd overall with a time of 47.33 seconds.
With a time of 21.21 seconds, Nelson Douglas finished the 200m seventh in his group and took 42nd overall.
