Hazelet Achieves Big Throw in Hammer, Falls Short of Nationals in Day 2 of Regional Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Rebecca Hazelet of the Southern Utah University track & field program competed in the hammer throw at the NCAA DI Western Regionals on Thursday, May 23, ending in 38th and coming up short on qualifying for Nationals.


Head Coach Eric Houle Said:

"The performance wasn't what she hoped but to compete at this level was a huge accomplishment."


With a throw of 179'9", Hazelet ended the event in 38th place, ahead of competitors from the University of Oklahoma, the University of California, and USC, but completes her season behind the Nationals qualifying mark of 198'1".

Hayden Harward and Travis Feeny will look to advance in their respective events as the Thunderbirds wrap competition at Regionals on Friday, May 24.
