POCATELLO, IDAHO – The Thunderbirds Men's and Women's track and field teams wrapped up their competition at the Snake River Open on Friday, Jan. 17. Both teams had several impressive outings.

"We had some solid performances throughout all of the event groups this weekend. We will take a week off and prepare for NAU."
Mens Recap & Results
Both Davey Newman and Jared Sharp competed in the men's Heptathlon. Jared finished first overall in the 1000-meter run. Jared Sharp would finish second overall with 4,842 points, while Davey Newman finished seventh with 4,164 points.
Jaedyn Carpenter finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.84, Noah Binghurst finished sixth in the same race with a time of 6.94, and he would also finish second in the 200-meter race with a time of 21.69.
Jackson Tarver, Kody Smith, and Dawson Stokes all competed in the 400-meter race, with Tarver coming in fourth with a time of 50.11, Smith coming in seventh with a time of 50.88, and Stokes coming in twelfth with a time of 52.84.
The 4x400 meter relay race team of Jaedyn Carpenter, Nick Pembroke, Jared Sharp, and Noah Bringhurst finished with a time of 3:19.77.
Womens Recap & Results
Melissa Crane competed in the Pentathlon for Southern Utah. She would finish fifth overall with 3,195 points.
Ariana Baker and Makenna Skoczylas both competed in the Pole Vault, with Baker finishing second with a jump of 12'7.50" and Skoczylas finishing third with a leap of 12'1.5". Savannah Nielson also impressed by finishing second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.68.
In the women's 400-meter race, Andie Rasmussen finished third with a time of 57.21, and Mia Kauffman finished seventh with a time of 58.32. Kimberly Winward also held her own in the 800-meter race for the Thunderbirds, finishing fifth with a time of 2:17.73.
In the 4x400 meter relay race, the team of Maya Benjamin, Andie Rasmussen, Jordyn Nielson, and Kimberly Winward finished second with a time of 3:55.22.
