CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Women's Soccer team dominated at home against the Wildcats of Abilene Christian. Outshooting ACU 20-8 and earning a 1-0 victory to improve their record to 3-9-2 and 2-4-0 in WAC play.
Head Coach Kai Edwards said
"The team competed hard together. We turned a 0-4 defeat 12 days ago to a 1-0 win today.Â
Tarleton State is the single focus now."

The Thunderbirds started the game aggressively on offense, with Sarah Assumma registering three shots in the first seven minutes of play.
SUU earned its second corner-kick of the game in the 20th minute, and Carly Radke played a ball over the box that Assumma was able to head out to Nao Yasuda, who then fired another cross into the box, and freshman Dakota Hansen battled to get her head on the ball and past the ACU goalkeeper. It was Hansen's second goal of her young career, both goals coming off headers.
The Thunderbirds dominated for the rest of the second half, recording 13 shots.Â
The second half was a battle, with both teams creating quality chances. Jazmyn Brass stepped up big for SUU, collecting six saves in her second career shutout.
The Thunderbirds'Â back line was phenomenal once again and forced the first home shutout this season.
Statistical Recap
SUU had set a new season-high with 20 shot attempts, including 10 landing on target. The T-Birds earned six corner-kicks while only allowing one for the Wildcats.
Jazmyn Brass earned her second career shutout, making six saves on eight total shots faced.Â
Dakota Hansen scored the game-winner for the Thunderbirds, which was her second goal of the season. Hansen now has five points on the year.
Whitney Gardner led the team with six total shots and two landing on target, but Sarah Assumma wasn't far behind, recording five shots of her own with two also on frame.
The defense was the story of the game for the T-Birds: Aubrie Labno, Nao Yasuda, Sicily Clark, Brooklyn Bradley, and Aubrey Murray all played the full 90 minutes and held the Wildcats to just eight total shots.
Clark and Murray led the team, covering over nine miles during the match.
