CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The Thunderbirds battled the Lancers of CBU til the final minute, but one early goal from CBU proved to be enough as the T-Birds were held scoreless for just the fourth time this season.

Head Coach Kai Edwards said

"We lost to a very talented and well coached team. Our collective team effort and performance was very good to see . We keep doing that and there is something for us on the other side of hard . Like bison in a storm we will run at the storm together

Match Recap

CBU started the match quickly, scoring in the eighth minute on a great long pass over the SUU defenders that Kaylee Hauck slid past Jazmyn Brass.

There were only four shots total in the first half from both teams; the defensive battle was impressive to watch.

The second half was very physical and still a defensive grind. CBU was able to create a few more shots on goal, but Jazmyn Brass came up big for the Thunderbirds in order to keep it a one-goal game.

The final 15 minutes were severely affected by the weather, with the wind picking up and rain starting to fall; neither team could figure out how the ball was reacting on the grass or how the wind was affecting shots. The Thunderbirds had a few more chances to score the equalizer late in the game, but just couldn't find the special finish. 

The T-Birds fall to 2-8-2 on the year and 1-3-0 in conference play.

Statistical Recap

Dakota Hansen and Whitney Gardner were the only two Thunderbirds to record a shot on goal in the match.

Jazmyn Brass recorded three saves on nine total shots faced.

Aubrie Labno was the only Thunderbird to play the full 90 minutes. Dakota Hansen and Sarah Assumma both logged over 80 minutes played.

Aubrey Murray was given a red card in the 75th minute for intentionally stopping an immediate scoring action. Murray will miss the next match against Utah Valley.
