CEDAR CITY, Utah - After an incredible first week with Southern Utah women's basketball, junior transfer Brooklyn Fely earned the titles of Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week and WAC Newcomer of the Week. Fely's opening week featured two 20-point double-doubles as she led the Thunderbirds to a 2-0 start in the 2025-2026 season.
Head Coach Tracy Mason Said:
"Brooklyn has had such a great impact from the day she arrived on campus. She's a competitor, works extremely hard, and holds herself and others to a high standard. She definitely deserves these awards. This is all a product of the work she puts in."
An offseason addition for Southern Utah, Fely has quickly emerged as an integral piece of the young Thunderbirds team.
On Monday, Nov. 3, Fely made a statement against Park University Gilbert and tallied a team-high 21 points and brought down 13 boards. The star athlete showed off impressive accuracy, shooting 57.1% from the field and 83.3% from the free-throw line.
On Saturday, Nov. 8, she proved she'd have no problem translating that success to the Division I level. Facing a talented Washington State Cougars team, she racked up 20 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists. Her effort helped the Thunderbirds to a 77-64 victory in the weekend showdown.
