CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's basketball team dropped its first game of the season in a 76-72 back-and-forth firefight with the University of Idaho on Saturday, Nov. 15 in Moscow, Idaho. While the Thunderbirds fell to 3-1 on the year, the Vandals rose to 3-1.
Head Coach Tracy Mason Said:
"Idaho is a great team and I thought we competed well today. We had a few lapses on the boards, and it really cost us. I think we'll learn a lot from this game going forward in the season."

Game Recap
First Half
Freshman Devyn Kiernan opened the game with three deep triples, surpassing her season-high in the first four minutes of the quarter. A strong scoring offense from the Thunderbirds continued churning in the paint, pushing ahead to an 18-14 lead.
Idaho found their groove in the second quarter, piecing together a 16-4 go-ahead run and forcing a Southern Utah timeout. Swinging the momentum back to SUU, a layup from sophomore Kortney Doman and a three-pointer from junior Ava Uhrich cut it to 38-35 at the half.
Second Half
The Vandals once again started the quarter strong, bursting back to an 8-point advantage, but Doman and sophomore Sierra Chambers added threes to stay in range. The future Big Sky foes continued to exchange scores throughout the third, before a Kiernan triple tied the game. A Doman floater boosted Southern Utah ahead to a 57-54 advantage.
After Idaho retook and maintained the lead through most of the final quarter, Uhrich and Doman added late three-pointers to sneak to a one-possession game. However, the Thunderbirds couldn't overcome the Vandals offense as they fell 76-72.
