SPOKANE, Washington- The Thunderbirds men's and women's track and field teams concluded their competition at the Whitworth Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Head Coach Eric Houle said:
"We were able to accomplish what we set out to do this weekend. It gave everybody a chance to improve their marks and gain a little experience on the track where the conference championships will be held in a couple of weeks. Overall, it was a very successful weekend for the team."
Men's Recap and Results
Kadan Allen led the men's team, finishing first in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:52.79. Isley Gutierrez finished second in the 60-meter hurdles and set a personal best with a time of 8.07. He also finished sixth in the high jump with a jump of 6 '04.75".
The 4x400-meter relay team of Jaedyn Carpenter, Nick Pembroke, Jackson Tarver, and Kody Smith finished first with a time of 3:15.22.
Two freshmen, Richard Crane and Cory Buner, would finish fifth in their respective events. Cory competed in the 5000-meter race and finished with a time of 15:28. 28, while Richard competed in the mile run, fishing at 4:20.00. In the 3000-meter race, Logan Peel would finish seventh with a time of 8:22.68.
Daniel Gee would finish seventh in the pole vault with a jump of 15'01". Jaedyn Carpenter finished third in the 400-meter race with a time of 46.71. Noah Bringhurt would finish third in the 200-meter race with a time of 21.62.
Women's Recap and Results
The 4x400-meter relay team of Andie Rasmussen, Maya Benjamin, Jordyn Nielson, and Savannah Nielson finished first, with a time of 3:53.77.
Morgan Blackburn had two top-10 finishes. She would finish eighth in the weight throw with a throw of 46 '2.50", and she would finish tenth in the shot put with a throw of 38' 00". In the Pole Vault, Ariana Baker would finish eighth with a jump of 11 '11.75", and Makenna Skoczylas would finish sixth with 12' 05.50".
In the 60-meter hurdles, Savannah Nielson would finish third at 8.67. In the 60-meter dash, Jordyn Nielson finished sixth with a personal best time of 7.76, and Maya Benjamin finished eighth with a time of 7.82.
Lia Selander finished sixth in the mile run with a time of 5:03.84. She also finished fifth in the 3000-meter race with a time of 10:16.02. In the 800-meter race, Adisen Stratton finished sixth at 2:19.35. Chloe Bingham finished third in the high jump with a leap of 5'06.50".
