Cedar City, Utah- The Thunderbirds men's and women's track and field teams are set to compete at the WAC Indoor Championships this weekend, starting on Friday, Feb. 28.

Men's Preview
Last year at the WAC Indoor Championships, the men's team took home the Championship; they will look to repeat history this weekend. Kadan Allen led the men's team last time out at the Whitworth Invitational by finishing first in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:52.79.
Jaedyn Carpenter, who took home the WAC men's indoor track athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 27 through Feb. 2, will look to add to his impressive season at the WAC Indoor Championships. Jaedyn's best time this season came at the Ron Mann Classic when he finished first in the 400-meter race with a time of 49.94.
Some other notable athletes that will be competing are Isley Guttierez whose best time came at the Whitworth Invitational in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.07, and Noah Bringhurst, whose best time came at the Snake River Open in the 200-meter race with a time of 21.69, Daniel Gee and Jared Sharp in the Pole Vault with Daniel's best jump being 15'1" at the Whitworth Invitational and Jared's best jump being 14'7.25" also at the Whitworth Invitational.
The 4x400 meter relay teams will also be in action as well with their best time coming at the Whitworth Invitational with the team of Jaedyn Carpenter, Nick Pembroke, Jackson Tarver, and Kody Smith coming in at 3:15.22.
Women's Preview
Last time out at the Whitworth Invitational, the women's team was led by Savannah Nielson, who finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.6,7 and Chloe Bingha,m who finished third in the high jump with a leap of 5 '06.50". Both of them will look to add to that success at the WAC Indoor Championships, with Savannah's best time being in the 60-meter hurdles at the Ron Mann Classic with a time of 8.66 and Chloe's top leap being the one from the Whitworth Invitational.
Some other notable athletes that will be competing for the women's team will be Ariana Baker and Makenna Skoczylas in the Pole Vault, with Ariana's top jump being 12'11.50", which came at the Ron Mann Classic and set the school and personal record for Pole Vault. Makenna's top jump being 12'5.50" which came at the Whitworth Invitational. Jordyn Nielson's top time came at the Whitworth Invitational in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.76, Maya Benjamin's top time came at the Whitworth Invitational in the 200-meter with a time of 25.18, and Andie Rasmussen whose top time came at the BYU Indoor Invitational in the 400-meters with a time of 56.71.
The 4x400 meter relay teams will also be competing with their best time coming at the Ron Mann Classic with the team of Andie Rasmussen, Maya Benjamin, Mia Kauffman, and Jordyn Nielson, with their time being 3:53.30.
