Orem, Utah—The Thunderbirds wrapped up their one-day meet at the UVU Collegiate Invitational on Friday, March 28.
Head Coach Eric Houle Said:
"Today was a great weekend for all the athletes as they improved their event marks. The school record in the women's pole vault and numerous individual personal records made it an excellent weekend for the team."
Men's Recap and Results
Isley Gutierrez led the men's team with two first-place finishes. Isley finished first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.39, narrowly beating out the second-place finisher, who had a time of 14.41. He also finished first in the high jump with a jump of 6'7.5".
Dylyn Cooks also had a first-place finish for the Thunderbirds, finishing first in the triple jump with a jump of 45'9.5". Levi Smith had another first-place finish, taking the top spot in the long jump with a leap of 23'1.5".
In the 400-meter dash, the Thunderbirds had two top-seven finishes. Noah Bringhurst finished fifth with a time of 48.32, while Ammon York finished seventh with a time of 49.08.
In the 800-meter run, Jaedyn Carpenter finished third with a time of 1:53.35, while Santiago Gaitan finished seventh with a time of 1:55.46. Jackson Tarver finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.67.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Jared Sharp finished fifth with a time of 55.68, while Kody Smith finished seventh with a time of 56.57. In the pole vault, Jonathan Steiner finished fourth with a jump of 14'3.25".
Women's Recap and Results
The Thunderbirds dominated the high jump, led by Ajia Hughes, who finished first with a leap of 5'9.5. SUU also had two more top-ten finishes, with Chloe Bingham and Madisyn Baillie finishing tied for fifth with jumps of 5'3.0.
Ajia Hughes wasn't done, though, finishing second in the long jump with a jump of 19'0.25", and Jordyn Nielson also finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.37.
Morgan Blackburn carried over her impressive performance from last week into this week with a second-place finish in the discus throw with a top throw of 157'1.0".
In the 100-meter hurdles, Savannah Nielson finished third with a time of 14.30. Lydia Forsyth finished eighth in the mile run with a time of 5:07.03.
In the Pole Vault, Ariana Baker set a new SUU School record for outdoor pole vault and finished third with a jump of 12'7.5", and Makenna Skoczylas finished sixth with a jump of 11'9.75".

The Thunderbirds will head south next week to Las Vegas and the campus of UNLV for the UNLV Rebels ELITE whih will begin on Friday, April 4.
