CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah sophomore Arianna Ramirez has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week after an explosive weekend at the plate that powered the Thunderbirds to a pivotal rivalry series win over Utah Tech.

"Ari was a difference-maker this weekend. Hitting .700 with clutch RBIs, she came through when it mattered most. Her composure in big moments and ability to deliver under pressure helped lead us to a critical series win."
Ramirez was nearly unstoppable in the box, hitting a staggering .700 over the three-game set. The Long Beach native racked up seven hits, including two home runs, a double, and four singles, while driving in eight runs and scoring five times herself. Her standout performance included a season-high four-hit game and a three-RBI outing in SUU's 9-8 win on Friday.
With the Thunderbirds fighting for position in the WAC standings, Ramirez came up clutch time and time again, swinging the momentum in SUU's favor and proving to be a difference-maker in the lineup. She finished the series with a slugging percentage of 1.400 and an on-base percentage of .667.
This marks the first WAC weekly honor of the season for Ramirez, who is now hitting .350 on the year with six home runs and 25 RBIs. Ramirez now has more home runs than last season and is on pace to more than double her RBI total from 2024.
On Deck
The Thunderbirds will be back on the road for a series at Seattle University this weekend. The three-game set will begin with a doubleheader on Friday, April 18, at 3:00 p.m. MT. The final game of the series will take place at noon on Saturday, April 19. The games will be available to stream on ESPN+, and live stat links will be available on the softball schedule page.
