Another school record broken as the Thunderbirds continue their hot streak at UNLV and Stanford

Las Vegas, Nevada- The Thunderbirds continued their hot streak with awe-inspiring performances this weekend. 


Head Coach Eric Houle Said:

Men's Results & Recap

The 1500-meter run was the crown jewel event for the men's team this week at the UNLV Rebels ELITE, with some very impressive finishes. This included Logan Peel leading the way with a first-place finish with a time of 3:57.09. Richard Crane wasn't far behind Logan, finishing second with a time of 3:58.15. Ezra Nelson finished sixth with a time of 4:04.54, while Cory Bunker finished eighth with a time of 4:05.09. 

Jaedyn Carpenter continued his tremendous season with a second-place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 46.87. The 4x400-meter relay team that consisted of Jackson Tarver, Noah Bringhurst, Nick Pembroke, and Jaedyn Carpenter finished third with a time of 3:13.04. 


Women's Results & Recap

Like the men's team, the women's team shined in the 1500-meter run, finishing with four of the top six. Bella Evans led the way once again with a first-place finish with a time of 4:32.33. Audrey Hales finished fourth with a time of 4:43.19, Lydia Forsyth finished fifth with a time of 4:43.19, and Lia Selander finished sixth with a time of 4:46.86. 

Emelia Thurston set an SUU outdoor school record in the triple jump with a jump of 39'6 ½"; the previous record was set in 2022 by Emily Wilson, who had a jump of 38'10 ½".  In the long jump, Emelia Thurston finished fourth with a personal best with a top leap of 19'5 ½". In the 800-meter run, Bella Evans again had a top finish, finishing fifth with a 2:14.12. 

In the pole vault, Makenna Skoczylas and Ariana Baker tied for seventh, having top jumps of 12'0 ¾". Jade Garcia in the javelin throw finished fifth with a top throw of 144'5".

In the 4x400-meter relay, the team consisting of Maya Benjamin, Mia Kauffman, Jordyn Nielson, and Savannah Nielson finished third with a time of 3:53.85. 


Up Next

The Thunderbirds will head to Azusa, California, next week to the campus of Azusa Pacific University to compete at the Bryan Clay Multi starting on Thursday, April 10.
