Cedar City, Utah- The Thunderbirds finished their outdoor regular season with impressive finishes at the SUU Coliseum Championships.

"It was so nice to have a home track and field meet. The weather was fantastic, and we had school-record performances. The men's 400-meter and the women's pole vault were the highlights of the competition today."

Men's Recap & Results
The men's team had numerous top finishes. In the 400-meter dash, the T-Birds claimed the top three spots with Jaedyn Carpenter finishing first with a time of 45.59, a new SUU Men's Outdoor school record. Nick Pembroke and Jackson Tarver tied for second place with times of 48.17.
Levi Smith had an impressive meet as he came in first in the long jump with a top leap of 23'8.25", while also finishing third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.89. Isley Guttierez had another first-place finish for the T-Birds. Isley came in first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.07.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Jared Sharp finished second with a time of 53.89; in the 800-meter run, Nathan Carlin finished third with a time of 1:53.35. In the 3000-meter run, another first-place finish headlined the event for the T-Birds. Cory Bunker took home first place with a time of 9:01.76.
In the 4x400-meter relay, Jaedyn Carpenter, Nick Pembroke, Jared Sharp, and Kody Smith took home first place at 3:12.01.
In the discus throw, Jackson Stark finished third with a top throw of 138'9.75". In the triple Jump, Dylyn Cooks finished second with a top leap of 46'10.5". Dyan Gee finished second in the pole vault with a top jump of 16'0.75".
The high jump saw two T-Birds take the top spot.. Isley Gutierrez took home first-place with a top leap of 6'4.0", while Jarom Smith finished second with a top leap of 6'2.0".
Two more third-place finishes rounded out the day for the T-Birds with Jackson Roybal finishing third in the javelin throw with a top throw of 169'7.75", while Jacob Jones finished third in the mile run with a time of 4:18.82.
Women's Recap & Results
Jordyn Nielson had a day for the T-Birds as she took home first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.74, which edged out the second-place finisher by one second. Jordyn also finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.97.
Emi Thurston set a SUU Women's Outdoor record with a first-place finish in the triple jump with a top leap of 40'1.5". Ariana Baker set a new SUU Women's Outdoor record as well, taking home first place in the pole vault with a top leap of 13'3.5".
In the 800-meter run, the T-Birds took home the top three spots. Kimberly Winward finished first with a time of 2:13.89, Josii Johnson finished second with a time of 2:15.04, and Bella Evans finished third with a time of 2:17.61.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Mia Kauffman took home third place with a time of 1:04.06. In the 4x100-meter relay, the team consisting of Maya Benjamin, Jordyn Nielson, Savannah Nielson, and Sabrina Wright finished third with a time of 47.15.
In the 4x400-meter relay, the team of Savannah Nielson, Jordyn Nielson, Maya Benjaim, and Mia Kauffman finished third at3:56.
Morgan Blackburn finished her impressive outdoor regular season with a first-place finish in the discus throw with a top throw of 149'0". In the shot put, Kiara Hansen finished third with a top throw of 39'1.25".
Ajia Hughes continued her MVP-type season with another first-place finish in the high jump with a top leap of 5'10.75", a second-place finish in the long jump with a top leap of 19'6.25", and another second-place finish in the triple jump with a top leap of 40'1.0".
In the javelin throw, Jaylee Gandert took home second-place with a top throw of 145'5.0", while Logann Laws finished third with a top throw of 134'9.0". Audrey Hales took home second place in the mile run with a time of 5:06.65.
In the hammer throw, Brooke Lynch took home second place with a top throw of 158'2.5".

With the conclusion of the outdoor regular season, the Thunderbirds will now prepare for the WAC Outdoor championships, held in Arlington, Texas, from May 15 through May 17.
