CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- Southern Utah University's redshirt senior goalkeeper Jazmyn Brass has been named the Western Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week after delivering a remarkable performance in SUU's home opener against Boise State on August 21.

In a gritty 1–1 draw against the defending Mountain West regular-season champions, Brass anchored the net with seven saves on 13 shots faced, including five critical stops in the second half—one of which was a jaw-dropping reaction save off her back foot on a late free kick that preserved the draw and energized her team.

Brass's heroics were especially noteworthy given her familiarity with the opposition—she transferred to SUU from Boise State, which made her performance all the more impressive.

Brass leads the WAC with 22 total saves and is tied for 11th nationally.

Head Coach Kai Edwards said

"Jazz had a great performance versus a top-60 team in the Country. It was also her former program that she has a lot of respect for. She would be the first person to credit her team's work rate around her. The save on the free-kick with five minutes to go was awesome and needed." 

Performance Highlights:

• Seven saves on 13 shots, including five in the second half.

• Key late-game kick-save on a free kick.

• Instrumental in securing SUU's first result of the season, improving the team to 0–2–1.

This recognition is a testament to Brass's composure, experience, and impact on the field. As a seasoned player who earned the starting role early in the season, she continues to set the standard for excellence.
