CEDAR CITY, Utah - After leading the Thunderbirds to important rivalry wins over Utah Valley and Utah Tech, Southern Utah women's basketball player Brooklyn Fely earned Western Athletic Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week honors. The junior transfer averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds between the two games, adding to a successful first season with SUU.
Head Coach Tracy Mason Said:
"Brooklyn had a really strong week. She made some extremely big plays for us at Utah Valley as well as at home against Utah Tech. I'm really proud of her and the work she continues to put in every day."
Fely has been instrumental in the Thunderbirds' success in the 2025-2026 campaign, averaging 8.1 rebounds per game (third in the WAC) and 11.8 points in conference games. She boasted the highest accuracy of Southern Utah's starters this week at 44.4% from the field and greatly impacted her team's paint presence.
Defeating the Wolverines in a 64-60 nailbiter, Fely logged 12 points and nine rebounds. She also contributed to the defensive effort with a block and a steal.
Facing the Trailblazers, Fely racked up a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Her performance buoyed the team to a dominant 62-49 home win.
