Southern Utah Falls at Idaho in Big Sky Road Match

MOSCOW, Idaho – Southern Utah women's soccer dropped a 4-0 road decision to Idaho on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Kibbie Dome, as the Thunderbirds tightened up defensively after halftime and turned their attention to the regular-season finale.

Idaho built a 3-0 lead in the first half before SUU held the Vandals scoreless for nearly the entire second half, giving up a late goal in the 90th minute. The Thunderbirds doubled their shot output after the break, putting up six attempts in the second half after three in the first.

Blieschke Leads the Attack

Gracen Blieschke paced the Thunderbirds offensively with a team-high three shots, two of them on frame. Her best look came in the 86th minute when she worked a shot toward the bottom right corner that forced a save from Idaho goalkeeper Paula Flores. Blieschke also tested Flores in the 58th minute with a low effort to the bottom left.

Halle Cowan put SUU's first shot on goal just more than two minutes into the match, and Ashlyn O'Malley added another on-target attempt in the 61st minute. Kayleigh Acree finished with two shots off the bench.

Second-Half Response

Madison Ejgird took over in goal at the break and made two saves in her 45 minutes, both coming in a three-minute stretch midway through the half. She stopped Sara Rodgers in the 63rd minute and denied Hallie Prinos-Grumbach in the 66th to keep the margin at three.

Tatum Trout made three saves in the first half. Dakota Hansen and Ashlyn Woodbury each played the full 90 minutes for the Thunderbirds, and SUU committed just five fouls on the day. The match drew 851 fans.
