CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Men's Golf team will be competing in The Watney Invitational in Fresno, California, at the San Joaquin Country Club hosted by Fresno State.

Head Coach Richard Church said

"Quick turnaround from our last tournament, but the team is in good shape and ready to compete again. If we can eliminate the big numbers, we can put ourselves in a good spot to win this event."

What: The Watney Invitational hosted by Fresno State

When: March 2-3

Where: The San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, California.

Who: CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, California Baptist*, Fresno State, Idaho, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, Seattle, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, Southern Utah*, Utah State, Utah Valley*
*- WAC Member

Format: Five players will play with four scores counting toward the overall team score. 36 holes will be played on the first day, and 18 holes on day two.

Last Time Out at the Wyoming Desert Invitational

True freshman Uy Doan paced the Thunderbirds, finishing tied for 46th at +2. Doan delivered SUU's low round of the tournament with a second-round 70 (-2), helping the team post its best round of the week. Doan made eight birdies through the three rounds, including four during his two-under-par second round.

Charlie Gillespie followed, tying for 63rd at +5 after steady rounds of 75, 72, and 74. Braylon Bingham finished just behind him in a tie for 68th at +6, highlighted by a second-round 71 (-1). Gillespie used four birdies in his final round to shoot a 74, and Bingham made five birdies on the front nine, including four in a row, to fire his second round 71.

Jing-Cheng (Jarell) Wang added a +15 to finish tied for 102nd, while Luke Barnes rounded out the Thunderbirds' lineup at +24.
