Thunderbirds Earn Multiple Event Wins at Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. — The Thunderbirds wrap up a strong showing at the Bryan Clay Invitational, which included multiple event wins in the women's 800-meter and a first-place finish in the high jump. Southern Utah was also highlighted by a strong showing across multiple events as it continues to build momentum for the postseason.

Men's Recap and Results

The Thunderbirds men were highlighted by strong performances in the hurdles and jumps, led by Isley Gutierrez, who placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.17 and also ran 10.94 in the 100-meter prelims, while Tyler Myrup added a 14.46 performance in the hurdles. In the 400-meter hurdles, Ashton Miller led the Thunderbirds with a time of 53.11, followed by Matthew Hayes at 54.71 and Jared Sharp at 55.69. In the field events, Divin Kalanga recorded a long jump of 7.17 meters (23'6¼"), while Ace Brown added a 7.07-meter mark and also ran 48.87 in the 400 meters and 21.93 in the 200 meters, with Jackson Tarver finishing the 400 in 48.92 and the 200 in 21.67. On the track, Giovanni Criss posted a 10.93 in the 100-meter prelims, while Kyler Helt ran 10.72. In distance events, Amit Cohen finished the 10,000 meters in 30:04.39, Logan Peel led the team in the 5,000 meters with a 14:06.78, Josh Hernandez ran 14:43.23, and Todd Yeates posted a 3:57.13 in the 1,500 meters, while the relays recorded times of 41.38 in the 4x100 and 3:13.95 in the 4x400.

Women's Recap and Results

Southern Utah's women were led by Audrey Hales, who won the 800 meters with a time of 2:10.57, while Kimberly Winward added a strong performance in the same event with a 2:09.85 and later ran 55.82 in the 400 meters. In the field events, freshman Riley Gough captured first place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.63 meters (5'4¼"), while Chloe Bingham posted a top-10 finish with a 1.64-meter clearance. On the track, Sabrina Wright ran 12.35 in the 100-meter prelims before placing fifth in the final with a time of 12.31 and later clocked 25.00 in the 200 meters. Sydney Gibson recorded times of 1:01.01 in the 400-meter hurdles and 14.77 in the 100-meter hurdles, while Mia Kauffman added a 1:02.91 mark in the 400-meter hurdles. Additional sprint performances came from Iana-Michovani Graham, who ran 12.27 in the 100-meter prelims and 25.56 in the 200 meters, along with Ava Ford and Zoe Deucher in the 100-meter prelims. In the jumps, Timmia Rucks recorded an 11.74-meter mark in the triple jump and a 5.09-meter effort in the long jump, while the Thunderbirds' relay teams posted times of 47.72 in the 4x100 and 3:46.34 in the 4x400.
