Southern Utah Women's Soccer Drops Road Contest at Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. - Oct. 18 - Southern Utah women's soccer was able to find its shots, but was unable to find the back of the net as Creighton University went on to score seven goals in a 7-0 defeat on Sunday afternoon.  The loss drops the Thunderbirds to 3-10-2 on the year while the Bluejays move to 10-5-1.

Riley Bassett recorded the first of her team-high four shots during the game in the 11th minute, but was off the mark as the ball sailed wide left of the goal.  The T-Birds then tallied the next two shots of the game, but both were save by Creighton keeper Alicia Montgomery.

The Bluejays put the first point on the board in the 21st minute as Andrea Zuniga collected a ball within ten yards of the goal and directed the shot into the net.  Creighton went on to score two more goals during the first 45 minutes of the game to take a 3-0 lead into the intermission.

Southern Utah was able to double its shooting output during the second half as the T-Birds were able to rip nine shots towards the goal, but none were able to find their mark.  SUU switched keepers at the break, but the change didn't slow the Creighton offense as the team scored another four goals during the second half to take the 7-0 victory.

McKenzie Hadley was just behind Bassett in shot attempts during the game as the sophomore recorded three with one on goal.  Creighton used a total of 26 players during the game with each of the seven goals coming from different players.

Southern Utah will remain on the road during its next two contests as the Thunderbirds return to Summit League play with matches at North Dakota State and South Dakota State.
