ARROYO GRANDE, Calif., Nov. 8 - Southern Utah's Monica
Jung moved up six spots to finish fifth at Cal Poly's Lamkin Grip Invitational
on Tuesday, but the team slipped one spot to ninth even though the Lady T-Birds
cut eight strokes off their Monday score.
After an opening-round 80 left her in a tie for 11th
place Jung shot par 73 at the 6,088-yard Cyprus Ridge Golf Club on Tuesday to
move into a three-way tie for fifth with Cal State Northridge's Margo Dionisio
and Cal Poly's Asia Adell at 153. The trio was three shots behind individual
champion Balbina Guajardo.
As a team SUU shot 337 on Monday for a share of eighth place,
along with Cal Baptist. On Tuesday the 'Birds improved to 329 for a 666 total
but CBU shot 327 to finish two strokes up on SUU at 664. Santa Clara was the
team champion at 628, with Northridge second at 636 and Cal Poly and Grand
Canyon third at 638.
Kacy Buckner finished second among Thunderbirds in 43rd
at 166 (85-81), followed by Kaohi Loo, who was 48th, at 169 (83-86).
Loo had a hole in one on Monday. Alyssa Ballew was in 61st at 178
(89-89), with Brittany Edwards 64th at 180 (91-89). SUU's Rose
Pelletier, who was competing as an individual, finished 62nd at 179
(94-85).
The tournament wraps up Southern Utah's fall season.
